About us

Gerhard Coetzer grew up as a farm boy, who in his late 20s exchanged farming for city life, and soon became a Pretoria entrepreneur to be reckoned with! He founded the company MAPO (Manufacturer’s Auto Parts Optimizer), a software solution that helps clients to analyze parts, service costs, maintenance costs, and total cost of ownership on vehicles and equipment in various industries. A few years ago he stumbled upon a perfect property in Shere, an area that is wedged between the Bronberg and Magaliesberg mountains in the east Pretoria. At first Gerhard’s company MAPO moved into the offices on the premises, but the 1.1 hectare property offered so much more potential! Gerhard and his lovely partner Elaine soon started to put their dream into action, drawing up plans to use the buildings as a classy event venue, offering a Brewery to boot! Plans are being refined as we speak, and you can expect a few surprises over the next few months, when you see how Boulders grows from an idea to a reality, and a classy asset to the east!

Behind our logo

Our logo, designed by Gerhard's talented son, captures the image of two boulders, balanced in harmony. The stacking of stones symbolizes that similar minded people have passed here, looking for happiness, prosperity and adventure. In history, the stacking stones had a variety of meanings and purposes, such as marking a trail, commemorating a person or an event, expressing an artistic vision, or making a wish. Our boulders are not only beautiful to look at, but also serve as a symbolic gesture that reflects our hopes and aspirations, and that creates a sense of community and belonging with likeminded people.

Brewery and distillery

An on-site brewery and distillery, where you can sample and order our craft beers, have wine tastings and enjoy the atmosphere with friends or family.

RESTAURANT

Our restaurant will be operated by a professional chef, to offer food that will impress your palette and be a feast for your eyes. Once the restaurant and coffee shop is up and running, events can be catered for by the venue, making it easy for you to bring your guests without having to stress about the catering.

Junior entertainment

Speaking of family, we are planning to have space for children and teenagers in areas where they can be entertained without parents worrying about safety or security.
